The sleeve, or saya, is made from solid wood, providing a secure and elegant housing for the blade when not in use. This saya ensures that the sharpened edge remains protected, maintaining its integrity and lethality for whenever it is drawn.

Grasping the handle, or tsuka, you will find it to be solid wood as well, wrapped in a winding rope that provides both comfort and a sure grip.
